How It Works

License System Explained

HPanel uses a server-bound licensing model that is secure, transparent, and fair.

Server-Bound License

Each license is tied to a specific server's IP address and machine ID. You can transfer a license to a new server through the client portal.

Remote Verification

HPanel periodically contacts the license server to verify status. Lightweight HTTPS call that checks IP, machine ID, and license validity.

Grace Period

If the license server is temporarily unreachable, HPanel continues to operate normally for a grace period. No sudden shutdowns.

Suspension & Renewal

Expired licenses enter suspension state. Renew at any time to reactivate immediately. Auto-renewal available.

License Verification Flow

1
HPanel sends license key + server IP + machine ID
2
License server validates key, IP binding, and expiry
3
Returns status: active, suspended, or expired
Panel operates normally

Frequently Asked Questions

Can HPanel replace CloudLinux?

Yes. HPanel includes CloudLinux-like resource isolation built into the platform. It enforces per-account limits for CPU, RAM, IO and process counts using Linux cgroups and per-account PHP-FPM pools.

How does resource isolation work?

Each hosting account is provisioned with explicit package limits (CPU, memory, IO, inodes, bandwidth, processes). The panel applies these limits at the OS level so a single noisy neighbor cannot starve the server.

Can I disable services per server?

Yes. HPanel is modular by design. You can disable optional services (for example mail stack or DNS) depending on your infrastructure and security policy.

Is multi-server supported?

HPanel is designed for multi-server environments. You can operate multiple licensed servers and standardize configurations per fleet. Centralized orchestration can be added as an enterprise workflow.

How updates are rolled back?

Updates are deployed as packaged builds with safe restart behavior. If a health check fails after an update, HPanel can revert to the previous known-good build and restart services cleanly.

What happens if license server is unreachable?

HPanel uses a grace period. If the license verification endpoint is temporarily unreachable, the panel continues operating normally and retries in the background until connectivity is restored.
